The British Acupuncture Council describes Acupuncture:
“Traditional acupuncture is an holistic healthcare system that regards pain and illness, whether physical or mental, to be a sign that the
body is out of balance. Because traditional acupuncture considers every bodily function to be connected and interdependent, it recognises the role emotions play in illness and disease. The overall aim of treatment is to restore the body's equilibrium”. Acupuncture is becoming more popular in Western medicine and is now frequently used in the NHS. Even the well-respected Dr Hillary Jones has written articles in support of Acupuncture.
Our clinic has been approved by Sheffield City Council to practice Acupuncture and anyone practising Acupuncture in Sheffield must have a licence to do so. You should always ensure that your practitioner AND the clinic have been registered with Sheffield City Council. This ensures that the Council are satisfied with the Acupuncturists qualifications / registration and also that the clinic that they are based at meets health and safety requirements. Sheffield Therapy Centre is currently only offering Acupuncture as part of a physiotherapy treatment and this is for the benefits of pain relief only.
